Let me shoot my shot | Why am I the BEST Raleigh Durham Newborn Photographer for YOU?

Hey there friend! I know this season of life feels like a beautiful whirlwind packed with expectation, excitement, and maybe just a littttle bit of overwhelm. If you’re thinking about newborn portraits but are feeling a little nervous or unsure, you are not alone. It’s completely normal to have questions and worries about everything from your baby’s safety to how you’ll look in the photos.

That’s why I’m here—to gently walk you through those fears and show you why choosing me as your newborn photographer is one of the best decisions you can make for capturing these precious early moments. Let’s talk about what’s holding you back and how I make the entire experience feel safe, easy, and full of JOY.

Let’s look at 5 ways I structure my newborn sessions so that we walk through everything, together:

Baby’s safety & Family’s comfort is my top priority:

Your baby’s safety—and really, your whole family’s comfort—are at the very heart of everything I do. I’m gentle, patient, and with over 100+ newborn sessions under my belt, experienced in handling newborns with the utmost care.

But honestly, I’m also a mom. An unexpected twin mom who learned patience, how to get two babies to sleep at the same time, and how to remain calm through chaos. My whole life, I’ve been called a “baby whisperer” because I was always the one who unashamedly grabbed the new baby, rocked them to sleep, and greedily held them for the next hour as my arm fell asleep. I bring that baby greediness to every session—gimme that little one!

More than that, I know for photos to truly thrive, everyone needs to feel safe and comfortable. So I don’t just focus on baby—I’m here to create a calm, warm space, right in your home, where everyone feels seen, supported, and completely at ease. Because when your family feels comfortable and relaxed, those genuine, tender moments naturally unfold—and that’s what I’m here to capture.

I love embracing Realness:

This is where I thrive, and it’s a huge part of who I am personally—and what I bring to every session.

I want to see you.

I will never, ever take lightly that you allow me to come into your holy space. Your moment of newborn haze, when time seems to melt together, dishes pile up, and you haven’t quite found the best place to store diapers yet—so they’re in piles everywhere. The 22-month-old is still figuring out this new thing and how baby can be “returned.” There is realness in there.

No, I won’t photograph the piles of diapers—I’ll quietly pile them, along with diaper cream and random burp cloths, in the hallway. No, I won’t photograph the tantrum the toddler throws when they’re hungry and it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back in all the new emotions they’re feeling. No, I won’t photograph the sip of water you finally take for the first time today, the one I gently reminded you of while you’re also grabbing a snack for said toddler.

But I will be there. I will notice the way dad’s expression softens as he stares at his new son. I’ll notice the way you bring baby’s nose to yours when I’m coaxing toddler to run and grab your leg (and yes, I’ll ask you to do it again because it was so sweet—maybe toddler will grab your leg in a minute).

So yes, the world may feel like beautiful chaos. Your body may feel like a stranger to you. Toddler emotions are at peak levels. Dad feels a little like a sleep-deprived stranger. But your realness is in there—let me help remind you of that.

Baby led sessions that fit your family’s rhythm:

Can I get an Amen from every mom?! One thing I didn’t know as a first-time momma was that your baby doesn’t reallyyy get on a schedule for at least the first 12 weeks. Wait… what?! And I’m asking you to have a session in the first 3 weeks?!

While I know that’s a huge ask, I’ve tailored my portrait sessions to make sure baby leads the way—and I’ve picked up some tips and tricks to keep things flowing smoothly. My sessions are patiently paced to fit your family’s natural rhythm, with plenty of breaks for snuggles, feeding, or just soothing your little one. There’s no rush, no pressure—just gentle moments captured as they happen, so you can relax knowing your baby and your family’s comfort always come first.

But you know what? I want your photos to be absolutely stunning. I’ve never had to (knock on wood) reschedule a session because baby wouldn’t settle—but I will never force you or baby to endure a painful session where babe just can’t get settled. Rest assured. I’ve got you!

I create clarity around investments in memories, which last a lifetime:

When it comes to investing in your newborn photos, I know it can feel like a big decision—and honestly, it is. My experience, my education, and my equipment (like what I did with those 3 Es?) all play a huge role in my pricing. But they also play a huge role in the confidence you gain when hiring me.

Do I have a backup camera, in case one malfunctions? Yes.
Do I shoot on two cards, in case one doesn’t store photos properly? Yes.
Do I have backups upon backups of every photo I’ve taken? Yes.
Have I spent countless hours learning from some of the best in the industry about keeping baby safe, using light to our advantage, and marketing so you’ll find me? Yes.
Have I photographed over 100 newborns, so when your baby has a huge blowout all over me and their cute little outfit, it’s not the first time and I know exactly how to pivot? Yes.
Have I created a business that’s sustainable and profitable, so I can keep coming back year after year, season after season—to capture baby #1, #2, and #3 and create consistency across all your family portraits? Yes.

But here’s the thing: these images aren’t just photos. They’re your family’s first glimpse into a lifetime of memories—the moments you’ll want to remember when baby’s tiny fingers are long grown.

I’m here to make that investment clear and simple—no surprises, just a straightforward, caring approach that honors the value of preserving this beautiful, fleeting season. Together, we’ll create something timeless that feels worth every bit of your trust and investment.

Consistency is my wheelhouse:

Clean, joy-filled, tender moments that evoke raw emotion are woven throughout all of my galleries—that I can promise you. Whether it’s the pure moment a new mom inhales her newborn’s scent or a dad holding babe up to his cheek (yes—I’ll turn, see you smiling, and say “Yup… that’s your new iPhone background.”), or maybe a toddler trying desperately to find that frog in baby’s ear, together we will discover your sacred moments and capture them.

No—consistency doesn’t mean having a spotless, no-nicknack house. I never want your photos to look like that influencer’s staged perfection. I want them to look like you. Consistency lies in the feelings you feel and the memories you remember when you look back through your gallery.

Yes, I’ll help you make your photos aesthetically beautiful by finding the “good light,” assisting with flash when needed, identifying corners of your home you didn’t know photographed beautifully, and, of course, coordinating outfits that pull colors enhanced through my editing.

This season may be fleeting and full of beautiful chaos, but your story—the real, raw, joy-filled moments—deserve to be captured, cherished, and remembered forever. I’m here not just as your photographer, but as a calm, caring presence who sees you, supports you, and celebrates every imperfect, tender inch of your family’s journey. If you’re ready to create memories that will warm your heart for a lifetime, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out anytime with questions or to book your session—I can’t wait to meet you and your little one.
